I work with heavy material (canvas). Will this machine handle the weight?
Answer: No, it won't work with heavier material. It knocks mine out of timing with 2 layers of knit. -

Does this machine have a free arm to sew sleeve openings?
Answer: No, it does not have a free arm. -
Question:
Is the needle plate supposed to be not flush on one side?
Answer: Mine is flush with the plastic so you might have a defective one. Too bad you can't attach a photo. -
Question:
What is differential feed and why does it matter?
Answer: Differential feed is two sets of feed dogs that will allow you to create settings that will either gather your fabric or stretch your fabric. It also helps with sewing fine, silky materials, so that you don't have puckered seams. -
Question:
How does the rolled hem work on this machine?
Answer: No change of needles unless you need to. The difference is the foot you use. You start it into the foot and it will roll the fabric and sew it. -
Question:
Would this be a good model to go with for starting up a boutique?
Answer: I've had this model for 8 months. Easy to set up, thread and use. I would purchase again. -

I need a case for this machine for traveling. Any ideas?
Answer: I ended up getting a really large sewing machine rolling case. It is Everything Mary brand, on close out at Hancock Fabrics. Size 18.75 X 12.5 X 16.75 retails for $99.99. It is soft sided, so I don't think I would check it through on a plane, but otherwise, it should be great. -
Question:
What serger oil is recommended for cleaning/maintaining this machine?
Answer: I don't know if one is recommended, I keep a thin oil easy to drip or squirt onto where I need it you can find it most fabric stores. Most any will do the job.
